Carole Wellen Art Scholarship

This university scholarship fund is in memory of artist Carole Wellen (1946-2023).

For the past 50 years, she worked daily producing paintings, pen and ink drawings, abstract and figurative sculpture in clay, concrete, and stone. Her practice involved a wide-ranging body of work exploring the skies, woods, marshes, and coasts near her studio in New Jersey. She looked at the world closely, steadily, and with curiosity, and she encouraged the people around her to see the poetry found in the everyday.

The Carole Wellen Artist Scholarship supports visual art students pursuing a degree at a public university, based on talent and need. Recipients will also be awarded a year membership to NAWA.
